New Farmers Market Built by Magnum Contracting NOW OPEN!

Magnum Contracting is so excited to see one of our projects coming to life! On Saturday, May 9th, the Amicalola Regional Farmer’s Market opened for the first time to provide fresh produce to our community for the 2020 season. Continuing to follow COVID-19 guidelines, the Farmers Market will be open every Saturday from 8 AM – 12 PM, or while supplies last!

Magnum Contracting built the new facility, which sits right next to City Hall in downtown Dawsonville. Dawson County News reporter, Erica Schmidt, was on the scene and wrote, “Throughout the morning, vendors lined up portable tables or backed pickup trucks under the pavilion so that customers could walk from stand to stand with ease.”

Of course, we have to mention that the opening is taking place under the shadow of COVID-19. The vendors and customers at the Amicalola Regional Farmers Market are practicing safe social distancing, along with wearing masks and gloves to maintain safety. Schmidt writes that even “produce was pre-bagged in even dollar amounts so that customers could pay in cash for their goods and walk away with limited contact.”

The managers and vendors at the market say they’re encouraged by how popular the pavilion has been upon opening, and that’s even before the summertime-fruits-and-vegetables season. Magnum Contracting is looking forward to going and snatching up some fresh produce and celebrate the fruits of our labor!

Magnum was awarded the job of building the market by the City of Dawsonville and the Georgia Mountain Regional Commission, who teamed up to bring the vision of a fresh market in downtown Dawsonville to life. We were the prime General Contractor for the project and we worked closely with John Quinn on the architecture and Davis Engineering and Surveying for the Civil Engineering, plus subcontractors and vendors like Mullinax Truss and Automatic Curb.
