Kevin J. Morton is a third-generation builder. As a General Contractor since 1998, Kevin has been active in developing residential, commercial, industrial, and government buildings all around the southern United States. Kevin obtained his State of Georgia General Contractor’s license in 2007, making him one of the first in Georgia to receive the designation when the state began requiring them. Now he plans to take his knowledge and use it to serve the evolution and growth of Magnum Contracting.

“From starting and running my own company to growing and running others, I’ve dabbled in absolutely everything in the construction market. I’m ready to use my experience and knowledge to turn Magnum into the place to call when you want to come to Atlanta and build here.”

Stepping into the contracting business with a team of professionals

An Auburn graduate, Morton joined the Magnum team in 2013, running the Utility and Grading Division for the last six years. Now, Magnum Contracting, LLC has expanded and is a complete“turnkey” development company, meaning they can handle every facet of development as a complete package: from designing, engineering, permitting to interior finish build-out. Magnum has big plans to go vertical and begin developing buildings in addition to the land development they’ve been so well-known for over the last 17 years. This will be cost-competitive and time-saving since the entire design and development can now be under one roof at Magnum.

“Our many years of collective experience has created this amazing network of connections and the relationships we’ve established with architects, municipalities, engineers, suppliers… Magnum can handle the entire development from phone call to move-in: interviewing and hiring the architects and engineers, finding the land, value engineering the project, giving you design and development…you really don’t have to go anywhere else,” Kevin explains. This not only means more opportunities for Magnum but efficiency and savings for the companies they work with. “Site work is normally the most expensive thing on a project. It can sometimes be 60% of project cost….we save you time and money because we’re already doing that.”

Rooted for generations and ready to grow

Talking to Kevin and the team at Magnum, you get the sense of how excited they are about this new chapter in their company story.  After years spent honing their craft and producing exceptional work in the construction business, Magnum is ready to step into their new role in the contracting business. “It’s my passion and love,” Kevin says. “ I’ve never done anything else and it’s who I am. I’m so excited to get our General Contracting up and running.”
